Rock Slyde is a 2009 comedy movie featuring Patrick Warburton, Andy Dick, and Rena Sofer in lead roles. The story follows the life of a private detective named Rock Slyde (Patrick Warburton) who works in Los Angeles. Rock is not your typical detective. He is quirky, eccentric, and marches to the beat of his own drum. Rock has a rather small clientele, but he's content with the odd jobs he gets. His desk sits in a rundown building that was once a public library. The building is now filled with other peculiar tenants, further exemplifying the quirkiness of Rock's world. Many of these characters frequent his office with odd requests: one of them looking for his pet iguana, for instance. Despite this, Rock is happy with his routine and his quirky life.

One day, a rather different challenge lands on Rock's lap: a wealthy lady named Sara (Rena Sofer) hires him to investigate a religious organization called the Church of the Highland Jedi. What makes this case different is that this organization is run by his former mentor 'Bart (Andy Dick) - who he had a fall out with when he was just starting out. His attempts to uncover the truth about the religious organization lead him down a path that puts his life in danger. He finds himself entangled in a cult, and he desperately needs to solve the mystery as quickly as possible.

Rock is not alone in his quest. Marbles, his clumsy sidekick who is always getting into trouble (Andy Dick) accompanies him on the mission. Marbles once worked with Bart, and his past experiences come in handy when Rock uses him to extract essential information from Bart's followers. Their strange yet amusing journey takes them to unexpected places, including a strip club and an Indian guru's home among many others.

The movie employs witty and clever humor throughout, with quirky and silly characters that keep the audience entertained. The humor in the movie is often lighthearted and generally clean, making it suitable for people of all ages. Every joke lands perfectly, resulting in a constant stream of laughter.

Furthermore, Rock Slyde is also memorable for being filmed in black and white - the first movie to do so in thirty years. The decision to shoot in black and white is not arbitrary, it adds to the quirky personality of the movie. The movie could have been set in the 1950s, but it does no such thing. Instead, its quirky characters and storyline set it apart from most modern movies.

The cast of Rock Slyde is impressive. Patrick Warburton, known for his deep voice and memorable performances in popular shows such as Seinfeld and The Tick, portrays Rock with great nuance. His acting is nothing short of perfection, and the chemistry between him and Andy Dick is fantastic. Andy, renowned for his work in NewsRadio and The Ben Stiller Show, does not disappoint either. Rena Sofer delivers a strong and compelling performance as Sara.

In conclusion, Rock Slyde is a comedy movie that delivers in every sense. It is a fresh breath of air, unlike any other movie in the same genre. The quirky dialogue, black-and-white cinematography, and outstanding performances by the cast make it a must-see for anyone looking for a good laugh. Rock Slyde succeeds at delivering witty humor without being unnecessarily vulgar, making it an enjoyable movie for audiences of all ages.
