Sankranthi is a 2005 Telugu-language drama film directed by Muppalaneni Siva and starring Venkatesh Daggubati, Sneha, and Srikanth in lead roles. The movie revolves around four siblings who reunite after years of being apart to celebrate the festival of Sankranthi with their grandparents in their ancestral village. The movie starts with Ram Babu (Venkatesh) who is a bank manager living in the city. His three siblings, who are estranged from each other, are working in different parts of the country. Ram Babu is the only one who keeps in touch with his family and yearns to bring his family back together. Ram Babu's grandfather is a wealthy and respected man in their village who is eagerly waiting for his grandchildren to come and celebrate the festival of Sankranthi with him.

The first sibling to arrive in the village is Ravi (Srikanth), a government employee, and a man with a quick temper. Ravi and his grandfather share a strained relationship, and Ravi has no intention of mending it. Following Ravi's arrival, the youngest of the siblings, Seenu (Sharwanand), a college student, arrives in the village. Seenu is the ever-happy-go-lucky person in the family who tries to bring a smile to everyone's face.

The last sibling to arrive is Rajyalakshmi (Sneha), the only daughter in the family. Rajyalakshmi is a software professional, who has been living in the US for many years. Her work has kept her busy, and she hasn't had the time to visit her hometown or her family.

The movie is about how the siblings come together to celebrate their grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary, overcome their differences, and resolve their family's issues. As they spend time together, they discover the love and bond that they have for each other as a family.

The film showcases the customs, traditions and beautiful rituals of the Sankranthi festival, which is celebrated widely in the southern part of India. It portrays how, in the midst of changing times, it is important to hold on to our traditions and roots, while embracing the modern world.

The film also addresses the issue of women empowerment. Rajyalakshmi is a strong, independent woman who has carved her own path, and the film puts across the message that women should be encouraged to follow their dreams and not be bound by traditional gender roles.

The music, composed by S. A. Rajkumar, is one of the highlights of the film, with the songs perfectly capturing the essence of the film's story and the festival of Sankranthi. The song "Muddabanthi Puvvulo" is a beautiful melody that has stood the test of time and is still a favorite among Telugu music lovers.

Overall, Sankranthi is a heartwarming family drama that highlights the importance of family, tradition, and togetherness. The movie is a perfect blend of emotions, comedy, and drama and is a timeless classic that can be enjoyed by all age groups. It's a must-watch for all those who believe in the power of family and the bond between siblings.
