This 2011 documentary reveals the sadness that's behind a dolphin's smile. It chronicles the love and admiration people in general have for dolphins. This is a chronological account of how dolphins became so beloved in American hearts, from the 1960s television show "Flipper" to today's respect and fascination from children and adults alike.
Unfortunately, this movie also illustrates a sad side. The sea shows, where dolphins are driven to commit suicide when they "underperform" are shown. In addition there is footage of a slaughter in Japan, where the dolphins are used for their meat. This movie shows behind the scenes accounts of dolphin abuse while illustrating that dolphins have feelings and emotions.
Saving Flipper is a 2009 documentary with a runtime of 47 minutes.
