Scoop is a 2006 romantic comedy film written and directed by Woody Allen, set in London. The film stars Scarlett Johansson, Hugh Jackman and Jim Dunk. Johansson plays Sondra Pransky, an American journalism student visiting London. One evening, while attending a magic show, she is brought onstage by the show's host, the magician Splendini (Allen), where she meets a deceased reporter, Joe Strombel (Ian McShane), who has been granted a brief time to communicate from the beyond. Strombel informs Sondra of the identity of the Tarot Card Killer, a serial killer who has been terrorizing London.

Sondra decides to investigate the case with the help of Sid Waterman (Allen), a magician's assistant and friend of Strombel. While investigating, Sondra meets Peter Lyman (Hugh Jackman), a wealthy British aristocrat and potential suspect. Sondra quickly becomes smitten with Lyman and is torn between pursuing her journalistic instincts and getting involved with him.

What follows is a lighthearted and entertaining series of events, as Sondra and Sid navigate the ups and downs of the investigation, often stumbling upon absurd and hilarious situations. Along the way, Sondra and Lyman become romantically involved, but Sondra can't shake off the nagging suspicion that Lyman might be the killer.

The movie is a delightful and engaging blend of mystery, romance and comedy, with superb performances by the cast, particularly Johansson and Allen, who have a great on-screen chemistry. The film has all the hallmarks of a Woody Allen production, with witty dialogue, charming characters and a keen sense of romance.

The film's pacing is brisk, and the story is well-written, always keeping the audience guessing about the identity of the killer. The film's anticlimactic ending is both satisfying and hilarious, with a final twist that is both surprising and delightful. The movie is also beautifully shot, with stunning London vistas and atmospheric interiors.

One of the standout elements of the film is the relationship between Sondra and Sid. Allen and Johansson have a wonderful rapport, and their exchanges are some of the funniest and most charming moments in the film. Allen's comic timing is impeccable, and his character adds an extra layer of humor to the already entertaining story.

The film's standout performance, however, is by Johansson, who is both funny and appealing as Sondra. Her performance is nuanced and sensitive, giving depth and complexity to a character that could easily have been one-dimensional. She handles the film's numerous comedic moments with ease, and her chemistry with Jackman is palpable.

Overall, Scoop is a delightful and entertaining film that showcases Woody Allen's abilities as a filmmaker, writer, and comedian. The movie's blend of mystery, romance, and comedy is masterfully done, and the cast's performances are excellent. If you're a fan of Woody Allen or enjoy romantic comedies, Scoop is a film that you will enjoy.
