Sidney's boyfriend Billy arrives just in time to rescue her, but when his cell phone drops from his pocket Sidney suspects he might have made the call and has him arrested. Sidney goes to stay with Tatum and Billy is released from prison the next day. Suspicion for the crimes is moved to Sidney's father after the calls are traced to his phone. School is suspended following the attack on Sidney and the school's principal is murdered in his office once the school is emptied. Stu, a friend of Billy's, throws a party to celebrate the school's closure and Tatum and Sidney both attend.
A reporter, Gale Winters, crashes the party expecting that the killers will strike again. Tatum's brother Dewey, a deputy sheriff, also attends to keep an eye on the teenagers. Tatum is murdered and most of the other party goers leave after hearing of the principal's death. Sidney and Billy are attacked and Billy is apparently murdered while Sidney escapes. Meanwhile, Dewey and Gale return to the party after investigating an abandoned car that belongs to Sidney's father.
Gale attempts to leave but crashes and Dewey is stabbed in the back. After Sidney takes Dewey's gun she is confronted by Stu and another guest, Randy, who accuse each other of being the killer. Sidney runs into the house and finds Billy alive. She gives him the gun, which he then uses to shoot Randy. Billy reveals that he and Stu are really the murderers. They lay out their plan to kill Sidney and then blame her father for it. They also admit to having killed Sidney's mother Maureen. Billy blames Maureen for his parent's divorce after his father had an affair with Maureen. Gale arrives and distracts the boys and Sidney takes the opportunity to kill Stu and then Billy. Sidney and her father survive, along with Randy, Dewey and Gale.
