Second Sight is a 1989 comedy film that stars John Larroquette, Bronson Pinchot, and Bess Armstrong. Second Sight tells the story of detective John Larroquette, who gets a brand-new partner named Bronson Pinchot. The twist is that Pinchot's character is a psychic, and Larroquette's character is initially resistant to him due to his unorthodox abilities.

The opening scene sets the tone for the film, as we see Pinchot accidentally crash an ambulance in a chase. The ensuing chaos is classic slapstick, as he wrestles with the ambulance door and ends up crashing into a storefront window. Constable Bobby McBrayer (played by Stuart Pankin) is on the case, but soon the FBI gets involved and sends Larroquette's character, Donald "Don" Durkett, to investigate.

When Larroquette arrives on the scene, he's less than thrilled to be paired with Pinchot's character, Bobby Shy. Larroquette's skeptical nature and Shy's psychic abilities set up a series of comedic circumstances throughout the film.

Despite their differences, they soon find themselves on the trail of a jewel thief who has stolen a valuable diamond. Along the way, they get into a series of misadventures that include everything from attempting to board a private plane to a hilarious scene where they disguise themselves as women to get past security.

The dynamic between Larroquette and Pinchot is the heartbeat of the film; their opposing perspectives and comedic timing make for a memorable on-screen duo. Shy's psychic abilities add an element of the otherworldly to the film, but it never gets too heavy-handed or unbelievable.

Bess Armstrong plays Larroquette's love interest, but it's a subplot that doesn't fully reach its potential. While their chemistry on-screen is good, their storyline feels undercooked and tacked-on.

The pacing of Second Sight is brisk, and it never drags. The humor ranges from physical comedy to witty one-liners, and it's consistently entertaining throughout. The script from Tom Schulman, who won an Oscar for writing Dead Poet's Society, is sharply written and filled with memorable moments.

The film's budget doesn't always hold up, and some of the effects used to showcase Shy's psychic abilities look dated. But this is made up for by the charm of the performances and the overall lightheartedness of the film.

The soundtrack is a standout aspect of the movie, featuring classic songs such as "My Girl" and "You Can't Hurry Love." It adds to the nostalgia factor of revisiting a film from the late '80s.

Overall, Second Sight is a highly enjoyable comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's anchored by strong performances from Larroquette and Pinchot, and it's a perfect example of the buddy cop genre at its best. While it may not be remembered as a classic film, it's certainly a worthy addition to the canon of '80s comedies.

Second Sight is a 1989 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 23 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.3.
