Shamo is a martial arts film from Hong Kong released in 2007. The film is directed by Cheang Pou-soi and stars Shawn Yue as Ryo Narushima, a young man who becomes a ruthless fighter after being abandoned by his parents and forced to fend for himself on the streets of Japan. The film begins with Ryo, a high school student, living with his parents in Japan. However, his seemingly happy life takes a shocking turn when he comes back home from school to find his family brutally murdered. The killer turns out to be Ryo's own father, who, after confessing to the crime, commits suicide in front of his son.

Following this tragedy, Ryo is left alone and spirals into a life of violence and crime. He becomes involved with a gang and soon becomes a feared fighter, participating in illegal boxing matches and developing his own martial arts style. He also forms a relationship with a girl named Megumi, played by Annie Liu.

However, Ryo's thirst for violence and his absolute lack of morals lead him down a dark path, causing him to become more and more unhinged. The violence and brutality of Ryo's world are captured in the film's brutal fight scenes, which are often bloody and intense.

Throughout the course of the film, Ryo is pursued by a detective named Jojima, played by Francis Ng. Jojima is determined to bring Ryo to justice but is repeatedly thwarted by the young fighter, who seems to have no regard for human life.

In addition, the film explores themes of redemption, morality, and the consequences of violence. As Ryo's past comes back to haunt him, he is forced to confront his demons and make a choice about the kind of life he wants to lead.

Overall, Shamo is a dark and intense martial arts film that explores the dark side of human nature. With its brutal fight scenes, complex characters, and thought-provoking themes, the film is sure to appeal to fans of martial arts films, as well as those who enjoy gritty, violent dramas.
