Shoot to Kill is a 1988 American thriller movie that casts Sidney Poitier as a veteran FBI agent and Tom Berenger as mountain man turned guide. The plot revolves around a group of ruthless killers, led by a highly intelligent mastermind, who is on the run in the wilderness of Montana after stealing diamonds during a heist. The FBI believes that the robbers might have fled to the wild terrains of the mountains, and they need an expert in the area to lead them to the fugitives. Thus, the law enforcement agency teams up with Jonathan Knox (Berenger), a rugged yet charming guide, to chase down the criminals before they can escape with the loot.

After a few initial setbacks, Knox and his team managed to track the group of thieves in a remote cabin. While they try to formulate a plan to apprehend them, the FBI agent-in-charge, Warren Stantin (Poitier), discovers that one member of the group is a woman, Sarah (Kirstie Alley), who might hold the key to catching the criminals. The team then devises an intricate plan to lure Sarah out, and Stantin uses his wit and charm to get close to her while concealing his real identity. However, the mastermind behind the heist is always one step ahead of them, and soon Stantin realizes they are not the hunters but the hunted in the treacherous wilderness.
