In the summer of 1966, four teenage boys from the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood in New York City are sent to a juvenile detention center after accidentally injuring someone during a prank. While there, they are brutally abused by the guards, led by a sadistic man named Nokes (played by Kevin Bacon). Years later, two of the boys, Michael (played by Brad Pitt) and John (played by Ron Eldard), have become career criminals, while the other two, Shakes (played by Joe Perrino) and Tommy (played by Jonathan Tucker), have gone on to lead more honest lives. When Michael and John come across Nokes by chance, they plan to seek revenge for the abuse they suffered in the detention center.

Their plan involves enlisting the help of old friends, including their lawyer, Danny (played by Jason Patric), and a local priest, Father Bobby (played by Robert De Niro), who is willing to risk his own reputation to help the boys seek justice.

As the plan is set into motion, tensions rise and secrets are uncovered, leading to a shocking conclusion that forces the characters to come to terms with their past actions and the long-lasting effects of trauma.

Sleepers is a dark and emotional drama that explores themes of justice, revenge, and the effects of childhood trauma.
