Sleepstalker is a horror movie that revolves around a man named Griffin also known as "The Sandman." It was directed by Turi Meyer who is known for directing other popular horror movies like "Candyman: Day of the Dead" and "The Curse of the Komodo." This movie was released in 1995 and features gripping elements of slasher horror. The movie opens with a flashback scene where a crazed man called the Sandman is seeking revenge on a family who wronged him. After brutally killing the family members he is caught by the police and sentenced to death. As he is being executed he vows to come back from the dead and seek revenge on those who wronged him.

Twenty years later, the Sandman returns as a supernatural entity to hunt down the child of the same family he killed which was the only surviving family member Tori (played by Caitlin Dulany). The Sandman is now out on a mission to kill her and her son. The only person that can stop him is a psychiatric patient that is able to enter dreams, thus can enter the Sandman's realm of existence.

The movie invokes psychological horror where the characters seem to be constantly on the brink of insanity. Griffin (played by Michael Harris) who is the psychiatric patient is trying to get back his sanity but is pulled back into his nightmares that feature the Sandman. At the same time, Tori is trying to navigate her way through the horrors that follow her relentlessly.

The movie showcases some great performances from the actors. Michael Harris delivers a nuanced performance as Griffin, the psychiatric patient. Vincent Berry also does an excellent job with his portrayal of the Sandman, he is ruthless, menacing and scary. Caryn Richman and Marc McClure play Tori's friends and do a great job in portraying their fear and distress. Caitlin Dulany's portrayal of Tori is also worth mentioning, she depicts a strong-willed mother who is fighting to protect her son from the evil that follows her.

The cinematography of the movie is quite good and keeps you engaged throughout. There are a lot of jump scares that will make you jump out of your seat, but the movie also utilizes suspense and anticipation effectively. The special effects used for the Sandman's kills are quite gruesome and will make you cringe.

The movie's soundtrack complements the horror elements and sets the tone for the movie. It is eerie and haunting which adds to the overall atmosphere of the movie.

One thing that makes this movie stand out from other horror movies of its time is how it uses dream sequences. The dream sequences are quite elaborate and add to the overall hallucinatory feel of the movie. The movie blurs the lines between dreams and reality which will keep you guessing throughout.

In conclusion, Sleepstalker is a great horror movie that will keep you on edge until the very end. It has all the elements of a good horror movie, suspense, great performances, effective jump scares, and an eerie soundtrack. If you are a fan of slasher horror movies, then Sleepstalker is definitely a must-watch.

Sleepstalker is a 1995 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.8.
