Snitch is a thrilling and suspenseful crime drama movie that follows the story of a father's love for his son. The movie stars Dwayne Johnson as John Matthews, a successful businessman and devoted father who will stop at nothing to save his son from a harsh prison sentence after he is wrongfully accused of drug distribution. The movie begins with Jason, John Matthews' son, being set up by a friend of his who had been involved in drug trafficking. The friend was caught and, in exchange for a reduced sentence, he provided the DEA with names of other drug dealers, including Jason. Jason's only mistake was agreeing to connect his friend with his own dealer, but he didn't know that his friend carrying drugs would lead to his arrest.

As soon as John Matthews learns about his son's situation, he knows he has to do something immediately. He turns to Susan Sarandon's character, Joanne Keeghan, who is the U.S. Attorney in charge of his son's case. Keeghan can't make any promises, but she suggests that if Matthews can help the DEA bring down an even bigger drug dealer, she could potentially lessen his son's sentence.

Matthews, who is not familiar with the underworld of drug trafficking, is forced to take matters into his own hands. He turns to an ex-convict named Daniel James, played by Jon Bernthal, whom his son knows from a brief stint in prison. Daniel agrees to help Matthews infiltrate a high-powered drug cartel and gather evidence that could help free Jason.

As soon as Daniel introduces Matthews to his boss, they set to work on delivering a target to the big players. In order to prove his worth as a serious drug trafficker, Matthews has to transport illicit chemicals into Mexico without being caught by the DEA. This puts him in a dangerous and increasingly complicated situation.

As the movie progresses, the intensity and suspense escalates as the DEA closes in on both the drug cartel and Matthews. The stakes get higher and Matthews finds himself in some dangerous situations, but he refuses to give up in his quest to save his son. Along the way, we see more of Daniel's backstory and how his past has shaped him, adding another layer of depth to the movie.

One of the most striking aspects of Snitch is the acting. Dwayne Johnson, who is usually known for his action roles, gives a powerful and emotional performance as a father trying to save his son. Jon Bernthal's also impresses with his portrayal of a once-imprisoned man trying to turn his life around.

The plot does a great job of humanizing every character, even the criminals. It shows us that everyone has their own struggles and motivations, and not everything is black and white. We come to empathize with even the drug traffickers who face long prison sentences if caught.

The movie is directed by Ric Roman Waugh and is based on a true story. Although it is a work of fiction, it raises important questions about mandatory minimum sentences and the justice system in the United States. While it's a riveting crime drama, it also serves as a powerful commentary on the flaws of the American prison system.

Overall, Snitch is a must-watch for fans of action-packed crime dramas, as well as those who enjoy emotionally charged family dramas. With its well-written characters, suspenseful plot, and powerful performances, Snitch is a masterful crime drama that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

Snitch is a 2013 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 52 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.4 and a MetaScore of 51.
