Spaceballs is a comedy sci-fi movie released in 1987, directed by Mel Brooks, who also starred in the film along with John Candy and Rick Moranis. The film is a parody of the Star Wars franchise, as well as other famous sci-fi movies from the 1970s and 1980s, and contains a mix of slapstick humor, satire, and pop culture references.

The movie takes place in the distant future, where the galaxy is ruled by a force known as Spaceballs. The evil Dark Helmet, played by Rick Moranis, is the commander of the Spaceball Star Cruiser, and along with President Skroob, played by Mel Brooks, they hatch a plan to steal the atmosphere of the peaceful planet of Druidia.

Princess Vespa, played by Daphne Zuniga, is the daughter of King Roland, who is forced into an arranged marriage with a prince from a neighboring planet in order to save her people. However, Vespa decides to run away from her wedding, and her father hires the rogue space pilot Lone Starr, played by Bill Pullman, and his half-man, half-dog sidekick Barf, played by John Candy, to rescue her.

Lone Starr and Barf end up in a series of ridiculous adventures while trying to save Vespa, including being trapped in a giant pizza, fighting off dangerous alien creatures, and crashing their ship into a desert planet. Along the way, they meet the wise and powerful Yoghurt, played by Mel Brooks, who teaches them about the mystical power of the Schwartz and how it can help them defeat Dark Helmet and President Skroob.

As they travel through space, Lone Starr and Vespa start to fall in love, but their romance is threatened by the constant danger and chaos around them. Eventually, they team up with the rebel forces of the planet Spaceball 1, led by the half-man, half-fish Captain Zoom, played by John Hurt, and attempt to stop Dark Helmet and President Skroob from stealing Druidia's atmosphere.

Spaceballs is known for its irreverent humor and its satire of pop culture classics such as Star Wars, Star Trek, and Alien. The film features a variety of memorable characters, including the hapless Dark Helmet, the clueless President Skroob, and the heroic Lone Starr and Barf. The movie also contains a number of catchphrases and memorable moments, such as Dark Helmet's oversized helmet, the Schwartz, and the giant comb spaceship.

Overall, Spaceballs is a zany and hilarious sci-fi spoof that continues to entertain audiences with its absurd humor and its nostalgia for classic sci-fi movies.

Spaceballs is a 1987 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.1 and a MetaScore of 46.
