Species II is a science-fiction horror movie from 1998 that serves as a sequel to the 1995 movie Species. The sequel follows the events that occur after Eve, the female alien created in the first movie, is killed. The surviving crew members of the original mission decide to create another alien-human hybrid, this time a male version that they name Patrick. However, things go wrong when Patrick starts exhibiting more dangerous and unpredictable behavior than Eve ever did.

The movie opens with the crew of the Orbiter recovery team discovering that Eve had given birth to a human-alien hybrid baby before she died. The baby is taken to a lab where scientists conduct experiments on it while also analyzing Eve's body to better understand her physiology. Meanwhile, the surviving members of the original mission are haunted by visions of Eve and struggle to deal with the aftermath of their failed mission.

Dr. Laura Baker, played by Marg Helgenberger, and her team of scientists decide to use the alien DNA found in Eve's body to create a male hybrid named Patrick, played by Justin Lazard. They believe that Patrick will be more stable and controllable than Eve was due to his increased human DNA. However, things quickly spiral out of control when Patrick starts developing dangerous powers and demonstrating highly aggressive behavior.

One of the main conflicts in the movie is Patrick's relationship with his human half-brother, astronaut Commander Steven Baker, played by Michael Madsen. Steven was one of the crew members on the original mission that created Eve, and he becomes involved in the project to create Patrick as well. However, he becomes increasingly wary of Patrick's dangerous behavior and starts to question whether the hybrid should be destroyed before it can cause harm.

Natasha Henstridge also returns to the franchise in a new role, playing a different character named Eve who is created using tissue samples from the original Eve's body. She becomes involved with the scientists studying Patrick and starts to realize that he is not as stable as they believed him to be.

As the movie progresses, Patrick's behavior becomes increasingly erratic and violent. He starts killing people and using his powers to manipulate those around him. The scientists and military personnel involved in the project struggle to contain him, leading to intense action and suspense scenes as they try to stop Patrick before he can cause further harm.

Overall, Species II is a thrilling and suspenseful follow-up to the original movie that explores the consequences of playing god with genetic technology. Its emphasis on action and horror make it a standout film in the science fiction genre, and the strong performances by its cast elevate the material beyond the typical B-movie fare. Fans of the first movie and horror/science-fiction enthusiasts are sure to find something to enjoy in this sequel.

Species II is a 1998 science fiction movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 33 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.5 and a MetaScore of 19.
