In Stormhouse, directed by Dan Turner, we’re taken on a chilling ride into the world of paranormal psychology. This found-footage horror movie is set in a highly fortified underground military facility, located in the UK. The facility, known as Stormhouse, is home to a top-secret government project designed to extract information from detainees deemed too dangerous to release. The project is run by a team of scientists, led by Dr. Bowman (Patrick Flynn).

The protagonist of the story is a young and ambitious military interrogator named Lieutenant Tori Lustigman, played by Katherine Flynn. Tori is eager to prove herself, and she jumps at the chance to conduct an interrogation in the state-of-the-art facility at Stormhouse. She’s tasked with extracting information from a captured terrorist named John Kavanagh (Grant Masters).

Little does Tori know, there’s more to Stormhouse than just cold, sterile walls and advanced interrogation technology. Soon after her arrival, strange occurrences begin happening in the facility. Doors start slamming shut on their own, and eerie whispers can be heard through the vents. The team brushes these incidents off as mere glitches in the electrical system, but they soon realize that they’re dealing with something far more sinister.

The atmosphere in the facility is tense, and the tension is amplified when an unforeseen storm hits above ground. The storm traps the team underground, and the situation rapidly spirals out of control as they fight to survive against an unknown and malevolent entity.

The storyline is engaging, and the characters are well-developed, immediately drawing the audience into their harrowing journey. The actors all deliver strong performances, bringing their respective characters to life effectively. Katherine Flynn’s portrayal of Tori Lustigman is particularly impressive, and she carries the bulk of the film on her shoulders effortlessly.

Visually, the film is stunning, with its claustrophobic setting and dimly lit corridors. The use of found-footage as a storytelling device is done effectively, seamlessly blending into the overall narrative. The sound design is equally impressive, with its subtle and creative use of sound effects to enhance the horror and suspense.

One criticism that can be leveled at the movie is that it’s not particularly innovative. Many parts of the storyline feel like a re-tread of familiar horror movie tropes, and the use of found-footage has become somewhat cliche in the genre. However, the film manages to overcome these limitations by delivering an engaging and atmospheric horror experience.

Overall, Stormhouse is a solid horror movie that’s bound to delight fans of the genre. The film has an engaging storyline, strong performances, and impressive visuals and sound design. While it may not break any new ground, it’s an effective and entertaining horror experience that’s definitely worth checking out.

Stormhouse is a 2012 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 28 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.0.
