Sweepers is a 1998 action movie that stars Dolph Lundgren as Christian Erickson, a former demolition expert turned mine sweeper for the United Nations. The story takes place in Angola, where a rebel leader named Radek has hidden a large number of landmines to stop government troops from advancing. Christian and his team of sweepers are responsible for locating and disarming these landmines before they cause any more damage.

The movie begins with a flashback of Christian's past where he faces a tough decision to either disarm a mine or let it detonate, killing a child. The incident haunts him, and he is determined to save as many innocent lives as possible by disarming landmines in war-torn countries.

In Angola, Christian is leading a team of sweepers to disarm the landmines laid across the country. However, things go wrong when his partner Tommy (played by Bruce Payne) gets killed, and the rebels attacks Christian's team. Christian flees the scene and is rescued by a journalist, Michelle Flynn (played by Claire Stansfield), who reveals that there is a more significant threat to the world's peace than just landmines in Angola.

Michelle tells Christian that the rebels are planning to sell weapons-grade plutonium to a terrorist group. Christian knows that he must find the plutonium before it falls into the wrong hands. However, he must also stop the rebels from deploying a new type of landmine, which is more advanced, and has the ability to sense human presence through thermal imaging.

Christian quickly realizes that he can't do this alone and enlists the help of a local woman named Terri (played by Kristian Alfonso), who is an expert in demolitions.

Together, Christian, Terri, and Michelle embark on a dangerous mission to stop the rebels once and for all. They face numerous obstacles along the way, including torture, betrayal, and sabotage.

The film shows Dolph Lundgren in his prime, doing what he does best, playing a heroic character who is determined to save the day. The action scenes are well choreographed and tense, as Christian and his team work against the clock to disarm the landmines and stop the rebels.

Despite its flaws, Sweepers is an enjoyable action movie that delivers on its promises. The film may not be as famous as some of Lundgren's other famous movies, such as Rocky IV or The Expendables, but it is still worth watching for his fans who enjoy his work.

In conclusion, Sweepers is a typical Lundgren action film with plenty of explosions, gunfire, and fistfights to keep the audience entertained. Despite its predictable storyline, the movie is still enjoyable and delivers on its promises as a thrilling action movie.

Sweepers is a 1999 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.3.
