In the movie Talaash, Aamir Khan plays the role of Inspector Surjan Shekhawat, a police officer who is haunted by a tragic incident in his past involving his son's accidental death. Surjan is assigned the case of a popular actor's death. The case is complicated as the actor dies in a car accident but his vehicle plunged into the sea instead of the road. Surjan investigates the case with his colleague, Inspector Devrath Kulkarni (Rajkummar Rao).

Throughout the investigation, Surjan meets a prostitute named Rosie (Kareena Kapoor), who assists him in solving the case. Rosie tells Surjan about a strange man who was a regular visitor, who could shed light on the case. Surjan tries to find the mysterious man, but he turns out to be elusive. Meanwhile, Surjan's wife Roshni (Rani Mukerji) is struggling to come to terms with the loss of their son and feels estranged from Surjan as he is preoccupied with the case.

As the investigation progresses, Surjan learns that the case is not straightforward and there may be more to it than meets the eye. He is convinced that there is a connection between the dead actor, the prostitute Rosie, and the strange man. However, he struggles to piece the clues together and solve the mystery.

Talaash is not just a police procedural movie; it is also a story about love, grief, and redemption. The movie explores the relationship between Surjan and Roshni amid their tragic loss, and how they find solace in each other. The film also delves into the concept of guilt, and how it can consume a person to the point of destruction.

Director Reema Kagti did a fantastic job in creating suspense and tension throughout the movie, without relying on jump scares or gore. The film is atmospheric, with a haunting background score that emphasizes the eerie feeling of the mystery surrounding the case. The cinematography, too, is beautiful, with the Mumbai cityscape acting as a backdrop for the story.

The performances in Talaash are top-notch. Aamir Khan, as always, is excellent in his portrayal of Inspector Surjan Shekhawat, a man who is battling his demons while trying to solve a difficult case. Kareena Kapoor is outstanding as Rosie, the enigmatic prostitute who may hold the key to the mystery. Rani Mukerji, in a smaller role, steals the show in her portrayal of Roshni, Surjan's wife, as she struggles to come to terms with her grief.

Overall, Talaash is a thrilling and emotional ride that keeps the audience engaged until the very end. It is a must-watch for fans of police procedural movies and those who enjoy a good mystery. The movie is well-crafted, with excellent performances and a captivating story that will leave the audience thinking long after the credits roll.

Talaash is a 2012 crime movie. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.2 and a MetaScore of 65.
