The Last Man is a science-fiction drama movie from 2000, directed by Harry Ralston and starring a little-known cast, including David Arnott, Jeri Ryan, and Dan Montgomery Jr. The plot is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a deadly virus has wiped out most of humanity, leaving only a handful of survivors struggling to survive. The main character, Kurt (David Arnott), is a lonely man who has managed to survive the virus, living alone in a small apartment in a deserted city. He spends most of his time gathering and hoarding supplies, scavenging for food and water, and trying to keep himself from going crazy.

One day, Kurt meets a woman named Sarah (Jeri Ryan) who wanders into his territory. Despite his initial reluctance to welcome her, he eventually allows her to stay with him, and they begin to form a relationship. The two develop a romantic bond, and their relationship continues to grow stronger over time.

As Kurt and Sarah struggle to survive in this harsh world, they encounter other survivors, including a group of violent men who terrorize anyone they meet. Kurt and Sarah eventually get captured by these men, and must fight to escape and make their way back to their safe haven.

Throughout the film, there are several flashbacks to the time before the virus outbreak, showing Kurt's life as an average college student, and his relationship with his girlfriend, Sylvia (also played by Jeri Ryan). These moments offer a bit of insight into Kurt's character, and help to flesh out his backstory.

Overall, The Last Man is a bleak and dark film, highlighting the fragility of human life and civilization. The characters are flawed and human, and the film's portrayal of their struggles is both realistic and poignant. The cinematography is well done, with a lot of shots of the desolate landscape and abandoned buildings, giving the film a sense of isolation and despair.

While the acting is decent, the plot can be a bit slow-moving at times, and the dialogue can be overly simplistic. Additionally, the plot is somewhat predictable, and lacks the surprises and twists that often make for a truly engaging film.

Despite its flaws, however, The Last Man is a compelling and thought-provoking film that will stay with viewers long after the credits roll. It's a bleak and sobering portrayal of a world without humanity, and a reminder of the importance of our connections to one another.
