The Seamstress is a 2009 horror movie that follows the story of a young woman who returns to her hometown in Canada to find out the truth about the death of her mother. The movie is directed by Jesse James Miller and stars Kailin See as the lead character named Jamie, David Kopp as her romantic interest named Jake, and James Kirk as her brother named Rollie.

The movie starts with Jamie, who is now a successful fashion designer in Los Angeles, receiving a letter from her aunt informing her about her mother's death. Jamie immediately decides to return to her hometown to investigate the matter. Upon arriving, Jamie meets her brother Rollie, who is mentally retarded and is living with his father. She also meets Jake, who is Rollie's caretaker.

As Jamie begins to dig deeper into her mother's death, she discovers that her mother was brutally murdered by a seamstress named Iris. Iris was accused of killing several young girls in the town before she was finally caught and executed. However, Jamie soon realizes that there might be more to the story than what she was told.

As she uncovers more about the seamstress, Jamie starts experiencing strange occurrences around her. She starts having nightmares about Iris, and the people around her start dying one by one. Jamie starts fearing for her life and tries to get out of the town, but it seems like the seamstress might not let her go.

The Seamstress has a slow burn approach to horror, with the first half of the movie focusing on the mystery surrounding Iris and the second half ramping up the horror elements. The movie is shot beautifully, with stunning landscapes of the Canadian countryside. The cinematography elevates the movie and adds to the overall eerie atmosphere of the movie.

The sound design of the movie is also notable, with the eerie score and sound effects adding to the horror elements. The Sewing machine whirring sound in the movie creates a sense of dread, and the use of silence in certain scenes also adds to the suspense.

Kailin See delivers a great performance as Jamie, portraying the character's vulnerability and strength with ease. David Kopp as Jake and James Kirk as Rollie also give good performances, but the real standout in the movie is the actress Victoria Bidewell, who plays the role of Iris. She manages to create a terrifying character with very few dialogues and makes the audience believe in the myth of the seamstress.

The Seamstress is not a perfect movie, and it does have its flaws. The pacing of the movie is slow in parts, making it hard to stay focused on the story. The characters, except for Jamie, are not well developed, and the ending of the movie may not satisfy everyone. However, the movie manages to create a creepy atmosphere that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Overall, The Seamstress is a decent horror movie that manages to create an eerie atmosphere and some genuinely terrifying moments. The movie is not for everyone, and it may not appeal to the mainstream horror audience. However, if you are a fan of slow-burn horror and appreciate good cinematography and sound design, then The Seamstress might be worth checking out.
