The 11th Day: Crete 1941 is a documentary film that chronicles the World War II Battle of Crete through eyewitness accounts of survivors who lived through the Nazi occupation of the Greek island. Beginning with the events of May 20, 1941 when German paratroopers stormed the island, the film explores the stirring, courageous, and unrelenting resistance against the Nazi forces put forth by the people of Crete. With the help of British, Australian, and New Zealand soldiers the citizens of Crete rose up to defend their home in a stand that shocked the invading forces, creating a far more costly military campaign for Germany than they had expected.
