The Black Stallion is a 1979 feature film directed by Carroll Ballard and based on the novel of the same name by Walter Farley. The movie tells the story of a young boy named Alec Ramsey, played by Kelly Reno, who is shipwrecked on a deserted island with a wild Arabian stallion. The two develop a bond and form a close relationship that carries them through a series of challenging circumstances.

The film opens with Alec and his father traveling aboard a cargo ship. While exploring the ship, Alec sees a beautiful black Arabian stallion being transported in a crate. When a storm hits, the ship sinks and Alec and the stallion are the only survivors. They wash up on a deserted island where they must learn to survive together.

At first, Alec is afraid of the stallion, but over time, he learns to earn the animal's trust. The two form a close bond and take care of each other. Alec discovers that the stallion is a champion racehorse and he begins to train him to run on the beach. They become fast friends and develop a deep connection.

After several weeks on the island, a passing ship spots Alec and the stallion and they are rescued. Alec brings the stallion back to his home in New York, where he attempts to train him for a race. However, the young boy and the wild stallion face many challenges along the way, including a jockey who is jealous of Alec's special relationship with the horse.

Throughout the movie, Alec learns to trust himself, the strength of his bond with the horse and the support of those around him. He also discovers that life is full of uncertainties and it is important to take risks and live each day to its fullest.

The Black Stallion movie stands out for its breathtaking cinematography, especially the scenes featuring the Arabian stallion running along the beach. The film captures the natural beauty of the desert island as well as the excitement of horse racing.

The acting performances are also noteworthy, with Kelly Reno giving a convincing portrayal of a young boy who learns to be brave and resourceful. Mickey Rooney plays the role of a wise and experienced horse trainer named Henry Dailey, who becomes Alec's mentor and teaches him valuable lessons about training and caring for horses. Teri Garr playing Alec's mother is also memorable as a loving and supportive presence in Alec's life.

The movie received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for two Oscars, one for Best Supporting Actor for Mickey Rooney and another for Best Film Editing. The Black Stallion is a magical movie that reminds its viewers of the wonders of nature and the importance of building strong bonds of friendship and trust.
