"The Desert Fox" (1951) is an American biopic about Field Marshall Erwin Rommel and it concentrates on his career during World War II. It was based on Brigadier Desmond Young's book "Rommel." He led German and Italian forces in Northern Africa. He gained a reputation for skill and prowess in desert warfare and earned the sobriquet the "Desert Fox." He disagreed with Hitler on both military strategy and "the Final Solution," which eventually earned him the Fuhrer's wrath, despite his effectiveness in war.
