The Employer is a psychological thriller movie that features a riveting storyline, strong performances, and a twisty narrative that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Starring Malcolm McDowell, David Dastmalchian, and Paige Howard, the film follows five potential candidates who are invited to a job interview at a prestigious corporation.

The movie opens with a scene that sets up the ominous tone of the story. An ominous voice over the loudspeaker announces a countdown, as we see the faces of the five characters light up in fear. We then cut to a news broadcast about a previous job interview that went tragically wrong, where all of the participants were killed. These two opening scenes lay the groundwork for the audience that this interview is not a run of the mill job interview.

The five candidates – Alan, Julian, Lourdes, Sara, and Patrick arrive at an isolated building where they are greeted by their mysterious interviewer (played by Malcolm McDowell). The interviewer is a stern, calculating man who does not reveal any information about either the company or the job they are interviewing for. Instead, he leads them to a windowless room and asks them to conduct a series of tests, each one more bizarre and unsettling than the last.

As the movie progresses, we learn more about each of the candidates, their motivations, and their secrets. Julian, the homeless man with an addiction, Alan, the business-minded negotiator, Lourdes, the down-on-her-luck mother, Sara, the fresh-faced graduate, and Patrick, the cocky salesman– all with something to prove or something to hide.

As the tests continue, the mood in the room turns dark, and the candidates become more paranoid and suspicious of each other. Emotions flare up, and alliances are formed and broken as the game intensifies. One by one, the candidates are eliminated, leaving the remaining ones unsure if they're participating in an actual job interview or something far more sinister.

The pace of the movie quickens when the characters are introduced to the "executive round" – a challenge that involves taking on the persona of the interviewer, who becomes a pawn to each of their individual ambitions. And the real game begins.

Expect twists, turns and a surprising ending as the interview room becomes a petri dish of greed, ambition, and desperation.

The Employer is a well-crafted psychological thriller that will keep the audience guessing until the end. The performances are strong, and the direction and pacing keep the audience engaged. It's a movie that will linger in your mind even after the credits roll.

The Employer is a 2013 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.4.
