Sydney begins a crazy quest with the intention of unraveling her mysterious visions. Paul Faulkner (Alessandro Nivola), her visual therapist, seems to be the only person who believes her. Now convinced to help her, they find themselves in Mexico, the origin of the donated cornea. Although they eventually accomplish their mission to put the spirit to rest, tragedy strikes again. On their way home, Sydney and Paul wait to cross the border due to traffic. A crazy police chase causes the fugitive crashing through border barriers into a gasoline truck.
Sydney, still having the ability to see death silhouettes, attempts to get everyone possible off the highway. The truck explodes from a spark and Sydney is once again blinded, in this instance from flying glass.
After recovering, Sydney has a more optimistic view of her blindness. She then returns to her life as a blind violinist.
The Eye incorporates many themes such as paranormal experiences, premonition, and mental illness (such as mirrored self-misidentification). Filming mainly took place in downtown Los Angeles. Directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud, Parker Posey also has a starring role.
Released on February 1, 2008, The Eye is 98 minutes long. The budget was 12 million dollars and box office was $56,964,642. Generally critics were harsh, they didn't believe it lived up to the original.
