The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas is a prequel to the original 1994 Flintstones movie, directed by Brian Levant. The movie, released in 2000, tells the story of how Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, two best friends with big dreams, met their future wives Wilma and Betty in the colorful, prehistoric city of Rock Vegas. The movie begins with Fred Flintstone, played by Mark Addy, working at the Rockhead and Quarry Cave Construction Company, where he dreams of being promoted to executive vice president. However, his colleague and rival, Cliff Vandercave, who is played by Stephen Baldwin, has his own plans of taking over the company and becoming the next boss. Meanwhile, Barney Rubble, played by Alan Cumming, has just met Betty, played by Jane Krakowski, and the two are smitten with each other.

Soon after, the four end up meeting at a casino in Rock Vegas, where sparks fly between Wilma, played by Kristen Johnston, and Fred – who is smitten with her beauty and impressed by her knowledge of geology. However, when he finds out that Wilma is actually a poor girl who is just pretending to be a wealthy socialite, Fred begins to doubt their relationship.

Despite his doubts, Fred decides to take Wilma to a fancy ball, where he faces Vandercave and his plan to take over the company. Eventually, Fred and Wilma's relationship is put to the test when they find out about each other's true nature and Wilma's father's disapproval of their relationship. At the same time, Barney and Betty try to overcome their own obstacles to stay together.

The movie features several musical numbers, including a romantic ballad sung by Alan Cumming and Jane Krakowski and a show-stopping performance by Wilma and her not-to-be outdone mother, played by Joan Collins. While not particularly critically acclaimed, the movie is filled with humor, action sequences, and interesting special effects that bring prehistoric creatures to life.

Overall, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas offers a light-hearted, family-friendly take on the beloved cartoon characters, exploring the origins of their famous friendship, the love between Fred and Wilma, and the moments that led up to their eventual marriage. While it may not match the nostalgia and charm of the original animated series or its predecessor, it's still an entertaining and colorful trip back in time to a simpler, more primitive era.

The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas is a 2000 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.7 and a MetaScore of 27.
