The Great Barrier Reef is a 40 minute documentary movie that made it debut in 1981. The movie was about ocean life surrounding the Great Barrier Reef and how environmentalists are doing their best to preserve one of the seven wonders of the world. In this short, celebrities Phillip Clarke and Rosalind Ayres are the narrators. They describe how scientists think the reef came to pass and the wonders of ocean life, such as sea turtles and the humpback whale, needs the Great Barrier Reef to survive. After the production of the short film, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO, has declared the Great Barrier Reef as a world heritage site. To this day, many tourists come to see the Great Barrier Reef as a once in a lifetime experience.
