The Hand of Night is a thrilling horror movie that was released in 1968. It stars William Sylvester as Howard Trent, a wealthy businessman who is haunted by nightmares of his dead wife, Ellen. He is convinced that her death was not an accident and is determined to uncover the truth behind her mysterious demise. The movie begins with Howard having a nightmare about his wife's death. He awakens to find himself in his luxurious apartment in Rome, where he lives with his secretary and mistress, Peggy. Howard is a successful businessman who has made his fortune trading in rare antiquities. He is also a collector of strange and macabre objects, which he keeps in his private museum.

Howard's obsession with his dead wife leads him to investigate her death, starting with the discovery of a small object that she had on her when she died. He becomes convinced that the object is the key to unlocking the mystery of her death and enlists the help of a local historian, Andrew Kelp, to investigate further.

As Howard and Andrew delve deeper into the mystery, they uncover a disturbing history of the object's origins. It is revealed to be a cursed item that was once owned by a powerful sorceress, who used it to control the minds of her victims. The sorceress was eventually killed, but her spirit is said to live on, inhabiting the object and bringing death and destruction to those who possess it.

Howard becomes increasingly obsessed with the object and begins to experience strange and violent visions. He starts to lose his grip on reality and becomes convinced that he is being haunted by his dead wife's spirit. Meanwhile, Peggy becomes jealous of Howard's obsession and begins to fear for her own safety.

As the tension builds, the movie takes a dark turn as Howard's mental state deteriorates further. He becomes more and more isolated, and his strange behaviour causes concern amongst his staff and friends. Eventually, he reaches a breaking point and the horrifying truth about his wife's death is finally revealed.

The Hand of Night is a classic horror movie that delivers plenty of scares and suspense. The movie is beautifully shot, with the moody black and white visuals adding to the eerie atmosphere.
