The Mothman Prophecies

The Mothman Prophecies is a movie that centers around paranormal activity in a town named Point Pleasant. The story begins with John and Mary Klein driving down a road at night. Mary suddenly sees something in the road ahead of her and swerves to avoid hitting it. As a result, she ends up with an injury that lands her in the hospital, where she is diagnosed as having a brain tumor. John examines the car and does not find any evidence of anything they may have hit. He also goes back to the scene of the accident, but does not find anything to support Mary's claim. Mary ends up dying from her tumor.

Several years later, John is driving home to Virginia when he suddenly finds himself off course and heading to the town of Point Pleasant. His car stops in the middle of the road. He leaves it to find help from a nearby house. When he knocks on the door, he is surprised to find himself face to face with an angry man holding a rifle. The man seems agitated that John continues to show up at his door, which confuses John because he has never been to the area before. The man and his wife call the police which leads a female officer to respond to their call. The officer's name is Connie and she tries to help John figure out what is happening to him.

As John tries to unravel the mystery he encounters several more people in the town of Point Pleasant who claim to have seen the same strange apparition his wife saw. This leads John on a quest to find out if the creature is real or a hoax. He begins receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be the Mothman creature. John discovers the creature appears whenever a disaster is about to take place, which includes a disaster involving himself and Connie.
