This 1984 musical comedy directed by Frank Oz features Jim Henson's Muppets in a series of madcap escapades as they try to put on a musical production in New York City. The film opens with Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and a host of friends just graduating from college and determined to put on a hit show called "Manhattan Melodies". So confident that the show will become a hit they approach a string of Broadway producers expecting to become instant stars.
With no success and money running low, the friends decide to split up and try to find jobs. Kermit stays behind in New York and soon gets a job at a local diner. He is befriended by the owner and his daughter Jenny. This upsets Miss Piggy who has secretly stayed behind to keep an eye on Kermit.
Fate intercedes when Kermit is knocked unconscious and develops amnesia. With no memory of his past life and friends he takes on a new identity and a new job with a group of frogs who run an ad agency. Miss Piggy saves the day by giving him a punch which brings him back to his old self. The adventure concludes with a surprise ending for Kermit and his longtime love interest, Miss Piggy.
