The Nearly Complete and Utter History of Everything is a rollicking, irreverent comedy exploring the history of the universe. Clive Anderson stars as the narrator, guiding us through time and space with wit and humor as we meet memorable characters and witness the most important events in human history. The movie begins with the Big Bang, as the universe is created out of nothingness. From there, we journey through billions of years of evolution, from the first single-celled organisms to the rise of human civilization. Along the way, we encounter the most famous figures from history, from Julius Caesar to Shakespeare to Napoleon, as well as lesser-known but equally fascinating characters like a Neanderthal fashion designer and a caveman who discovers fire.

The movie doesn't just focus on humanity, however. We also learn about the universe's other inhabitants, like a group of alien tourists and a talking black hole. We're even treated to a musical number by a group of singing atoms.

One of the movie's strengths is its willingness to take shots at sacred cows. No historical figure or event is safe from parody, whether it's Columbus discovering America in a kayak, or Richard III performing in a drag show. However, the humor is never cruel, and the movie clearly has a deep appreciation for its subjects, even as it pokes fun at them.

The performances from the three leads are top-notch. Clive Anderson is a sardonic and witty narrator, always ready with a quip or a pun. Matthew Ashforde plays a variety of roles throughout the movie with aplomb, including a hilariously clueless Christopher Columbus and a hilariously sinister Napoleon. Patrick Barlow is a standout as the caveman who discovers fire, bringing both humor and heart to his character.

The movie's production values are also impressive. The sets, costumes, and makeup all look fantastic, with a great attention to detail that brings each era to life. The special effects are also top-notch, with some particularly impressive sequences depicting the Big Bang and other cosmic events.

One of the movie's few weaknesses is that it can sometimes feel a bit too hurried. With so much information to cover, some scenes feel rushed, and some characters and events don't get as much time to shine as they perhaps deserve. However, this is a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things.

Overall, The Nearly Complete and Utter History of Everything is a hugely entertaining romp through the universe's history. It's funny, irreverent, and packed with memorable moments and characters. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a good laugh, this movie is well worth watching.
