In this thriller Sandra Bullock stars as Angela Bennett, a systems analyst who finds herself unwittingly involved in a political conspiracy that endangers her very existence. Angela is intelligent but antisocial, telecommuting to work and spending her free time almost exclusively online. After a coworker sends her a disk, she decides to meet him, but he dies in a plane crash before they can. Afterwards, Angela takes her first vacation in years, traveling to Mexico where she meets a man who turns out to be after the disk. She escapes, but is injured, and when she wakes up in the hospital she quickly discovers that all traces of her existence have been wiped out. Her home is vacant and listed for sale, her car has vanished, another woman has taken her place telecommuting to work and claiming to be her, and even her social security has been reassigned. Because of her antisocial habits none of her neighbours recognize her by sight, and her only relative is her Alzheimer's suffering mother. Soon Angela is on the run, unable to trust almost anyone, and with nothing but her computer skills to help her unravel the conspiracy that threatens to erase her completely.
