The Other Guys is a comedy. The movie stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlburg. Will Ferrell's Character is named Allen, and Mark Wahlburg's character is named Terry. It starts out with two detectives who are heroes in the police department and two detectives who are partners and seen as losers by everyone in the department. In the beginning of the movie the two detectives who are heroes end up dying when they jump off a building while chasing some criminals. The rest of the movie is about The Other Guys, Allen and Terry trying to do everything they can to stop being seen as losers.
Allen seems to like Terry a lot, but Terry can't stand Allen. Allen soon stumbles on a big case involving investment money. He tries to get Terry to help him break the case. At first Terry doesn't want to get involved but Allen talks him into it. However, the sergeant says he doesn't believe them, and he punishes them every time they try to pursue the case.
After getting punished for not listening to the sergeant, who is played by Michael Keaton, they decided to drop the case. The sergeant also splits them up and sends Terry to do traffic control and Allen to do street patrol. However, Allen is not going to give up and he decides that he is going to get the evidence he needs to prove he was right all along. Allen goes back to Terry and begs him to join him again. They go back to the captain who admits he knew about the case, but didn't want it pursued because the criminal was someone too powerful who could hurt his career. He now gives them the go ahead to finish the case.
It turns out the crime was going to involve transferring the police department's pension fund, and right before the transfer is about to take place Allen and Terry bust into the room and stop it. They then became heroes.
