The Ox is about a family that is poor. A laborer is trying to find a way to feed his wife and his little child as well as himself. He can't think of a way to feed them with no money so he decides to kill an ox. This ox belongs to his boss who is a rich farmer. The poor laborer is then arrested and thrown in jail. The laborer's wife needs to find another way to feed both herself and her little child. Her husband is eventually released from jail and together they try to find a way to survive.
