This biographical film tells the true story of the doomed expedition of the Airship Italia on its second trip to the North Pole. Starring Sean Connery as Roald Amundsen and Peter Finch as Umberto Nobile, the man behind the decision to take the airship to the North Pole. The movie begins many years after the crash of the airship and the rescue mission that cost the lives of many as they bid to find Nobile and his crew. Amongst those is Amundsen, who relates the story of his death as he raced across the Arctic in a bid to come to the rescue of Nobile.
