The Return of Godzilla is a Japanese science fiction film from 1985, and it is the sixteenth film in the Godzilla franchise. The movie is a direct sequel to the original 1954 film, and in it, Godzilla returns after a ten-year hiatus to wreak havoc on Tokyo once again. However, this time the monster is more terrifying than ever before, and it seems as if nothing can stop it.

The film follows Goro Maki, a journalist who is investigating a missing boat with his photographer Naoko Okumura. They soon discover that a giant sea monster is the cause of the boat's disappearance and are attacked by it. Fortunately, they are rescued by a team of scientists who reveal that the monster is none other than Godzilla.

The government quickly becomes aware of Godzilla's return and tries to come up with a plan to defeat the monster. Meanwhile, two factions within the government have differing ideas on what to do with the creature, with one group wanting to kill it, and the other wanting to capture it for study.

As Godzilla continues to wreak havoc on Tokyo, the situation becomes more desperate, and the government's efforts to stop the monster seem futile. However, hope seems to come in the form of a new weapon, the Super X, a flying vehicle capable of firing powerful missiles. The Super X is successful in forcing Godzilla to retreat, but it's uncertain if it will be enough to defeat him for good.

The movie features impressive special effects, particularly for the time, with Godzilla portrayed as a towering, fierce, and terrifying monster that strikes fear into the hearts of all those who see him. The acting is also strong, with Raymond Burr reprising his role as journalist Steve Martin from the 1956 American edit of the original Godzilla film, which is also referenced in this movie.

Overall, The Return of Godzilla is a thrilling and captivating film that serves as a worthy sequel to the original Godzilla movie. The movie is perhaps most well-known for its iconic poster where Godzilla is featured in front of a glowing red and orange sunset. With a solid storyline, impressive special effects, and fantastic acting, The Return of Godzilla is a must-see for any fan of the genre.
