The Rift is a science-fiction horror film that follows a team of six US Navy Seal divers who are tasked with salvaging a sunken nuclear submarine in the Pacific Ocean. However, things quickly take a sinister turn when they begin to experience strange and unexplainable phenomena. The film sets off with the team boarding a submersible and making their way towards the sunken submarine. Onboard are commander Phillips (R. Lee Ermey), a gruff and no-nonsense leader; Captain Beckman (Jack Scalia), an experienced diver with a personal connection to the sunken submarine; and a team of four highly skilled and specialized Navy Seals.

As they dive deeper into the ocean, the team is hit with a strong electromagnetic pulse that causes their equipment to malfunction. Communications are cut off, and the team is forced to rely on hand signals and physical cues to stay together. Soon after, they discover the mysterious and ominous wreckage of the submarine.

As the team begins to explore the wreckage, they begin to feel increasingly uneasy. Strange noises and movements are heard and felt throughout the submarine, and the team members start to experience hallucinations and delusions. The scares continue to mount as the team comes across dead bodies, including the remains of the original crew, whose deaths seem unexplainable.

Despite uncovering this unsettling mystery, the team is determined to complete their task and salvage the nuclear missiles onboard the sunken submarine. However, the further they explore, the more disturbing things become. Their mental and physical state declines dramatically, and it's clear that something is manipulating their perspectives.

The Rift boasts excellent acting from top to bottom, with all performances being entirely believable and grounded in reality. The film's underwater setting creates a sense of isolation and fear, which adds another layer of creepiness to the already tense atmosphere.

The horror in the movie is delivered with restraint, relying on eerie visuals and sounds to unsettle the audience slowly. This approach makes the jump scares and more intense moments incredibly jarring and effective. The special effects are genuinely impressive and impressive, adding to the film's unsettling tone.

The film's maritime setting provides a unique and altogether terrifying backdrop to the already terrifying story. The pacing is excellent, allowing the tension to build slowly before unleashing the horror. It's an excellent representation of the genre, and it's a must-watch for fans of horror movies.
