The Samba Poet is a Brazilian drama film that is about some of the best Brazilian musical composers and poets in the world. The main character, Noel Rosa, a funny and sarcastic medical student who has a band with some of the other kids in the local neighborhood. Noel is a middle class man with salty behavior as he tends to drink, smoke, and dodge police in between his Samba duels. The plot is full of twists and turns as Noel tells the story of what it's like to live life in ways other than mainstream avenues and faces obstacles unlike many of his peers.
