The Self-Destruction of Gia is an autobiography movie which discussed the life of supermodel Gia Carangi. The film was released in 2002 to a limited release. Gia Carangi was one of the top supermodels in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She died in 1986 due her drug use years before and contracting AIDS shortly after. In the film, many of her co-workers and family were interviewed. They talked about how she made her mark in the fashion industry and how she was behind the camera. In addition, the film highlighted never before footage and pictures of the late supermodel. The Self-Destruction of Gia shows the audience the depth of the tragic side of modeling.
