In the year 589 AD, the kingdom of Ehdan is ruled by a ruthless tyrant named King Cromwell (Richard Lynch), who has enslaved the people and executed anyone who opposes him. One night, a mysterious stranger named Talon (Lee Horsley) arrives in a small village and offers his services as a mercenary to anyone who can afford it. He is soon hired by a group of rebels who seek to overthrow Cromwell and restore freedom to the land.

As Talon joins forces with the rebels, he discovers that Cromwell possesses a powerful weapon known as the "Tri-Blade," a magical sword that can shoot blades from its hilt. The Tri-Blade was stolen from a family of sorcerers, and the rebels want Talon to retrieve it and use it against Cromwell. Talon proves himself to be a skilled fighter and strategist, and he quickly earns the trust of the rebels.

Meanwhile, Talon falls in love with Alana (Kathleen Beller), the daughter of one of the rebels. Alana is also desired by Prince Mikah (Simon MacCorkindale), Cromwell's treacherous son, who seeks to marry her and use her as leverage against the rebels. Mikah is aided by Xusia (Richard Moll), a powerful sorcerer who was once banished from Ehdan and seeks revenge against Cromwell.

As the rebels prepare for their final battle against Cromwell's forces, Talon faces a dilemma: should he betray the rebels and ally with Mikah to save Alana, or should he stay true to his principles and fight for the greater good? With sword fights, explosions, and magical battles, the fate of Ehdan hangs in the balance.

The Sword and the Sorcerer is a classic fantasy adventure movie that captures the spirit of the sword-and-sorcery genre. Lee Horsley delivers a charismatic performance as Talon, a hero with a dark past and a mysterious connection to the Tri-Blade. Kathleen Beller is equally impressive as Alana, a strong-willed woman who refuses to be a pawn in the power struggles of men.

The movie boasts impressive production values, with elaborate costumes, intricate sets, and stunning visual effects. The action scenes are well choreographed, with plenty of swordplay, archery, and acrobatics. The Tri-Blade itself is a unique and memorable weapon, with its ability to shoot blades making it a deadly and unpredictable foe.

The supporting cast also shines, with Richard Lynch delivering a chilling performance as Cromwell, a brutal despot who revels in his power. Simon MacCorkindale brings a sense of ambiguity to the role of Mikah, the conflicted prince who must choose between loyalty to his father and love for Alana. Richard Moll is suitably menacing as Xusia, the vengeful sorcerer who seeks to regain his lost power.

Overall, The Sword and the Sorcerer is a fun and exciting adventure that will appeal to fans of classic fantasy movies. With its mix of action, romance, and magic, it captures the spirit of the genre and delivers an entertaining and memorable experience.

The Sword and the Sorcerer is a 1982 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 39 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.5 and a MetaScore of 39.
