The Three Musketeers is a thrilling action-adventure movie released in 1993, directed by Stephen Herek and starring Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O'Donnell, Oliver Platt, and Tim Curry among others. It is based on the classic novel of the same name by Alexandre Dumas. Set in 17th century France, the story follows the young and brave D'Artagnan (played by Chris O'Donnell) who dreams of becoming a Musketeer like his father before him. On his journey to Paris, he meets and befriends the legendary musketeers - Athos (Kiefer Sutherland), Porthos (Oliver Platt), and Aramis (Charlie Sheen). Together, they embark on a dangerous mission to save the queen, Anne of Austria (Gabrielle Anwar), from the evil designs of Cardinal Richelieu (Tim Curry), the chief advisor to King Louis XIII (Hugh O'Conor).

The movie is filled with stunning sword fights, thrilling chases on horseback, and plenty of humor and banter between the charismatic Musketeers. As they try to foil the plans of Cardinal Richelieu and his beautiful spy Milady de Winter (Rebecca De Mornay), the Musketeers must also battle their own personal demons and past mistakes.

Kiefer Sutherland is outstanding as Athos, the brooding and tortured Musketeer with a tragic past, who takes D'Artagnan under his wing. His chemistry with Charlie Sheen's dashing and charming Aramis is a highlight of the movie. Oliver Platt brings his unique brand of humor and energy to the role of the flamboyant Porthos, while Chris O'Donnell holds his own as the eager and determined D'Artagnan.

Tim Curry is a delightfully devious villain as the scheming Cardinal Richelieu, who will stop at nothing to secure his power and influence over the King. His scenes with his sultry and deadly spy, Milady de Winter, played with equal parts sensuality and danger by Rebecca De Mornay, are some of the most memorable in the movie.

The movie also features an impressive supporting cast, including Michael Wincott as the sinister Rochefort, Paul McGann as the loyal and tragic Comte de Wardes, and Julie Delpy as the fiery and independent Constance Bonacieux, who helps the Musketeers in their quest.

One of the biggest strengths of The Three Musketeers is its lush and vibrant production design. The movie makes great use of its European locations, with stunning costumes and sets that transport the viewer to 17th century France. The grandiose and epic score by Michael Kamen adds to the movie's grandeur and excitement.

Overall, The Three Musketeers is a fun and entertaining movie that offers plenty of swashbuckling adventure, humor, and romance. While it may not be the most faithful adaptation of Dumas' novel, it captures the spirit of the original story and delivers a satisfying and entertaining experience for fans of the genre.

The Three Musketeers is a 1993 action movie with a runtime of 50 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.4 and a MetaScore of 43.
