The Wrong Guy is a Canadian comedy film from 1997 that was directed by David Steinberg. The movie features David Foley as the lead actor, along with David Anthony Higgins and Jennifer Tilly in supporting roles. The Wrong Guy follows the story of a man named Nelson Hibbert, who is a low-level office worker at a large business firm. Nelson is an insipid, clumsy and unintelligent man who is unhappy with his life, and dreams of becoming something more. However, his dreams remain just that, when he is bypassed for a promotion to Vice President in favour of someone else.

His misery is compounded when he learns that his boss, Charles, has been murdered and Nelson thinks he is the prime suspect. Instead of turning himself in, Nelson takes off on a hilarious journey to clear his name and find the real killer. Along the way, he meets various eccentric characters who are either helping or hindering his quest to prove his innocence. These characters include a feisty waitress, the owner of a gas station, and even a police officer, who becomes convinced of Nelson’s guilt.

Despite the serious nature of the crime, The Wrong Guy approaches the story with a light-hearted, comedic tone that makes its way into every scene of the movie. The film strikes a balance between silliness and clever wit that keeps viewers engaged throughout.

David Foley does an excellent job of playing the hapless Nelson, who stumbles upon various comedic mishaps as he searches for the real killer. Foley's comedic timing coupled with the physical comedy provides many of the movie's funniest moments. David Anthony Higgins also gives an enjoyable performance as an enthusiastic police officer who is convinced that Nelson is the killer.

Jennifer Tilly plays the role of Lynn, the waitress who helps Nelson on his journey to clear his name. Although she has a relatively small role in the movie, Tilly's lively and dynamic performance brings a lot of energy to each scene she is in.

The Wrong Guy also features a number of memorable cameo appearances, including Colin Mochrie and Joe Flaherty from the popular sketch comedy show, 'The Kids in the Hall,' as well as comedian Dave Thomas, who is also a co-writer of the movie.

The film's music is also noteworthy, featuring Eric Idle's song "The Galaxy Song" from the 1983 film Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. The song plays over the film's opening credits and sets the comedic tone for the rest of the movie.

Overall, The Wrong Guy is a fun and underrated comedy that provides a lot of laughs for its audience. The movie's clever writing and strong performances from its cast make it a great choice for anyone who enjoys a good comedy.
