Thillu Mullu is a 1981 Tamil comedy film directed by K. Balachander and stars Rajinikanth, Madhavi, Thengai Srinivasan, and Nagesh in prominent roles. The film is a remake of the Hindi movie Gol Maal and is one of the most highly regarded movies in Rajinikanth's career. The film begins with Chandran (Rajinikanth), an unemployed graduate roaming around the city, looking for a job. He happens to meet Bose (Thengai Srinivasan), a kind-hearted man who takes pity on his situation and offers him a job as a clerk in his office. However, Chandran has a tendency of lying, and he uses these lies to get out of tricky situations. Things take a hilarious turn when Chandran's boss Bose, who is a cricket fanatic, decides to fix his daughter's marriage with a cricket player.

The film's plot revolves around Chandran's attempts to keep up with the lies he tells Bose, who decides to call upon his cricket player friend (Nagesh) to test Chandran's cricketing skills. However, Chandran has never played cricket in his life and seeks the help of a veteran player (Sowcar Janaki) to teach him the game.

Thillu Mullu is a comedy that has stood the test of time due to its quirky one-liners, hilarious situations, and Rajinikanth's acting prowess. The film's comedy is the backbone of the movie, and the dialogues are intelligently crafted to tickle the funny bone of the audience. The film also has some memorable songs, with Kuthu Vilakku and Raagangal Pathinaaru being the most iconic.

The movie's director, K. Balachander, was known for his ability to draw out exceptional performances from his actors, and Thillu Mullu is no different. Rajinikanth in the role of Chandran delivered one of his most comedic performances, transitioning from one lie to another with ease. Thengai Srinivasan, who played Chandran's boss, was equally fantastic, adding depth and warmth to his character.

Madhavi, who played the role of Chandran's love interest, had limited screen time but made the most of her role. Her romantic scenes with Rajinikanth were sweet and added an extra dimension to the film. Nagesh's cameo performance as the cricket player was also impressive, and his humorous lines added to the movie's chuckle-worthy moments.

Overall, Thillu Mullu is an excellent comedy with an engaging storyline, memorable performances, and catchy tunes that remain popular to this day. The film strikes the right balance between humor and emotion and has all the ingredients necessary for a successful Rajinikanth movie.
