In the documentary film "Tillie Olsen: A Heart in Action" filmmaker Ann Hershey tells the story of Tillie Olsen, a writer, activist and labor organizer best known for short stories such as "I Stand Here Ironing." Olsen released her first collection of short stories, "Tell Me A Riddle," at age 50. The collection won an O. Henry Prize. The documentary looks at different aspects of Olsen's life, including her time as an activist and writer. The filmmaker uses interviews with Olsen and footage from her book signings and readings in the film. She also includes interviews from prominent women's rights activists Gloria Steinem and Alice Walker.
