This Portuguese drama, inspired by the real life of drag queen Ruth Bryden, tells the story of a homosexual performer in Lisbon as he approaches the end of his drag queen career. Tonia is one of the hottest performers at Lisbon nightspots in the late 1980s. He falls in love with AWOL soldier Rosario. Rosario exerts increasing pressure for Tonia to undergo surgery to physically become a woman. But Tonia is conflicted about making the sex change permanent, balancing his passion for Rosario with his religious convictions that dissuade him from scheduling a surgery that will change his life forever.
