Under the Rainbow is a 1981 comedy film set in 1938 Hollywood. The film follows the adventures of a group of little people, or more commonly referred to as dwarves, living in a hotel during the shooting of The Wizard of Oz. The story unfolds from the perspective of a young man named Bruce Thorpe, played by Chevy Chase, who is tasked with keeping an eye on the little people while they reside at the hotel. Carrie Fisher plays the role of a Soviet spy, Annie Clark, who is posing as a journalist covering the film, and Eve Arden is the hotel manager, Annie Quinlan.

The plot of the film revolves around the chaos that ensues when a group of little people, who are auditioning for roles in The Wizard of Oz, arrive at the hotel where the cast and crew of the film are staying. The little people are staying on a separate floor of the hotel, which is dwarf-sized, and the hotel staff has been instructed to give them the utmost care and attention. Bruce is tasked with chaperoning the little people and ensuring their safety during their stay. However, things take a hilarious turn when the little people start to misbehave and cause chaos throughout the hotel.

As the little people settle in, they begin to create chaos of their own. From pranking guests to stealing food from the kitchen, their rebellious behavior puts Bruce in a difficult situation. One of the little people, Otto, becomes infatuated with Annie, the hotel manager, and constantly pursues her with his advances, much to her annoyance. Everett, another member of the group, becomes involved in a smuggling operation, which puts everyone at risk of being caught by the authorities.

Meanwhile, Carrie Fisher's character Annie Clark is a Soviet spy who has been sent to Hollywood to gather intelligence on the making of The Wizard of Oz. She spends most of her time posing as a journalist, but her cover is blown when she is caught trying to take pictures of a secret government weapon being developed on the lot of the film studio. She then becomes embroiled in the chaos caused by the little people and comes into contact with Bruce, whom she enlists to help her complete her mission.

The film is a classic comedy, full of slapstick humor and witty one-liners. The story is made all the more entertaining by the fact that it is set during the making of one of the most beloved films of all time, The Wizard of Oz. The film also features glimpses of the making of the original movie, including the casting of Judy Garland and the creation of the Scarecrow and Tin Man costumes.

Under the Rainbow is a lighthearted and entertaining film, and a must-see for fans of Chevy Chase and Carrie Fisher. The film has become a cult classic in the years since its release, and it's easy to see why. With its wacky plot, loveable characters, and non-stop laughs, Under the Rainbow is a film that is sure to put a smile on your face.
