Valu is a 2008 Marathi language comedy film directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni, who has also co-written the screenplay with Girish Kulkarni. The film stars Atul Kulkarni, Mohan Agashe, Bharti Achrekar, Upendra Limaye, Girish Kulkarni, and others. The film is produced by Aparna Sant and Nilu Phule, with music composed by Bhaskar Chandavarkar.

The story of Valu revolves around a buffalo named Valu, who lives in the small village of Pandharpur in Maharashtra. Valu is owned by a poor farmer named Keshav (Atul Kulkarni) and his family. Keshav is in debt and struggling to make ends meet, and he sees Valu as his only hope to get out of his financial problems. However, Valu has other plans. He is a mischievous buffalo who loves to roam around the village and cause trouble for the villagers.

One day, Valu escapes from Keshav's farm and starts wreaking havoc in the village. The villagers are furious and demand that Keshav takes responsibility for the damage caused by Valu. Keshav tries to catch Valu, but the buffalo proves to be too clever for him. Keshav's attempts to catch Valu become even more complicated when the local politician (Mohan Agashe) gets involved.

The politician sees Valu as an opportunity to gain some political mileage and makes it his mission to catch the buffalo. He manages to convince Keshav to hand over Valu to him, but Valu has other plans. He escapes once again and creates chaos in the village. The villagers are convinced that Valu is possessed by an evil spirit and they decide to perform an exorcism on him.

What follows is a hilarious sequence of events as the villagers try to catch Valu and perform the exorcism. The film is a satire on the superstitious beliefs of the villagers, and the way they blindly follow their religious leaders.

Valu is a heartwarming film that has won several awards for its direction, acting, and screenplay. Atul Kulkarni is outstanding in his role as the farmer who is desperately trying to save his buffalo, while Mohan Agashe is equally impressive as the manipulative politician. The supporting cast is also excellent, particularly Bharti Achrekar as the superstitious villager who believes that Valu is possessed by an evil spirit.

The film is beautifully shot and captures the rustic charm of the village perfectly. The music by Bhaskar Chandavarkar adds to the overall charm of the film. The film is a must-watch for anyone who loves Marathi cinema or is looking for a light-hearted comedy with a social message.

Overall, Valu is a delightful film that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face. It is a testament to the fact that a simple story, told with compassion and humour, can be more impactful than any big-budget blockbuster.
