Waaris Shah - Ishq Daa Waris, is an Punjwood award-winning film made in India, released in 2006. It stars Gurdas Mann, Juhi Chawla and Divya Dutta. It is directed by Late director Manoj Punj. The film was critically acclaimed in India and overseas, although it did fail to do major business.It is a film about Syed Waris Shah (Urdu: ) (b. 1706 d. 1798) a Punjabi Sufi poet, best-known for his seminal work Heer Ranjha, based on the traditional folk tale of Heer and her lover Ranjha. Heer is considered one of the quintessential works of classical Punjabi literature.<br />
