Weekend at Bernie's II is a comedy flick from 1993, directed by Robert Klane and starring Andrew McCarthy, Jonathan Silverman, and Terry Kiser. The movie is a sequel to Weekend at Bernie's, released in 1989. In this movie, Larry Wilson (Silverman) and Richard Parker (McCarthy) are two employees of an insurance company, who discovered a massive fraud perpetrated by their corrupt boss Bernie Lomax (Kiser). In the first movie, they were able to incriminate him and get him arrested, but they also made the fatal mistake of pretending that Bernie was actually alive, in order to enjoy the luxurious lifestyle of his beachfront mansion in the Hamptons.

Now, six months later, we find out that Bernie's body has been stolen from the morgue by a voodoo priestess named Mobu (Novella Nelson), who needs a walking corpse to complete a magic ritual that will reveal the location of some stolen jewels. Larry and Richard accidentally stumble upon the macabre situation, and soon they find themselves on a wild goose chase in search of Bernie's remains, before Mobu and her henchmen catch them.

The plot of the movie is quite preposterous, but that's part of its charm. Larry and Richard have to drag Bernie's corpse around with them, propping him up in various positions, making it seem like he's still alive, while evading danger at every turn. The physical comedy is well executed, and the chemistry between the two actors is genuine as they bicker and banter their way through the adventure.

The addition of the voodoo element adds a new twist to the story, as Mobu is a formidable opponent who has supernatural powers and can cast curses on her enemies. However, the depiction of her character is somewhat stereotypical and borderline offensive, as she is portrayed as a primitive and exotic figure who speaks in broken English and uses witchcraft to achieve her goals.

The movie also features a subplot involving a love triangle between Larry, Richard, and Claudia (Barry Bostwick), a beautiful woman they meet along the way. While this plotline ultimately feels tacked on and superfluous, it does provide some moments of romantic tension and humor.

Overall, Weekend at Bernie's II is a silly but entertaining movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. The performances by the lead actors are solid, and the zany plot keeps the audience engaged. While it may not be a cinematic masterpiece, it's certainly a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

Weekend at Bernie's II is a 1993 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 37 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.8 and a MetaScore of 16.
