Yam Yasothon is a 2005 Thai romantic comedy-drama directed by Bin Bunluerit. The movie stars Phetthai Vongkumlao, Janet Khiew, and Waew Jokmok in lead roles. The movie is set in the northeastern part of Thailand and revolves around a young man named Phol (Phetthai Vongkumlao) who is the son of a farmer. The story is about his struggle to win the heart of his childhood sweetheart named Sai (Janet Khiew).

The movie begins with Phol returning to his hometown from Bangkok where he went to study. He visits Sai, who is now a schoolteacher, but she seems to be more interested in her newfound love interest, a handsome city boy who is also a teacher. Disheartened by Sai's indifference, Phol decides to leave the town and start a new life elsewhere. However, before he can do that, he is challenged by the town's rowdy motorcycle gang to a race. Phol accepts the challenge, and the race becomes a major event in the town.

While preparing for the race, Phol reconnects with his childhood friend and ex-girlfriend, Noi (Waew Jokmok). Noi still has feelings for Phol, and he also starts to develop feelings for her. They spend a lot of time together, and Noi helps Phol prepare for the race. She also tries to convince him not to leave the town and to fight for Sai. However, Phol is still unsure about his feelings and does not want to get his heart broken again.

The movie takes a hilarious turn when Phol's uncle, a former motorcycle racing champion, comes to town and offers to help Phol win the race. The scenes of Phol being trained by his uncle are some of the funniest in the movie. The uncle is eccentric and has a fondness for alcohol, which leads to some hilarious mishaps during the training sessions.

The movie also explores the town's tradition of ghost worship. There is a local ghost named Nian who is said to bring good luck to motorcycle racers. Phol and his uncle perform a ritual to appease the ghost before the race. However, things take a scary turn when they encounter the ghost in person.

The race itself is the highlight of the movie. It is a thrilling and action-packed sequence with lots of twists and turns. The audience is kept on the edge of their seats as they wait to see who will win the race. The ending of the movie is satisfying and heartwarming.

Overall, Yam Yasothon is a delightful romantic comedy-drama with plenty of humor, romance, and action. The movie is beautifully shot, and the performances by the lead actors are fantastic. The movie is a testament to the strength of Thai cinema and its ability to create unique and entertaining stories. If you are a fan of romantic comedies or action movies, then you should definitely watch Yam Yasothon.
