'Desperate Housewives' Farewell, 'Cougar Town' Finale Top ABC's Spring Slate
Two ABC hits go out with big bangs this May. One, of course, won't be coming back.
Highlighting ABC's final frames of the 2011-2012 season: one last sultry plunge on Wisteria Lane. Legal sparring with former star Nicolette Sheridan and all, "Desperate Housewives" will conclude its eight-season ABC run with a double-sized, two-hour May 15 finale, Yahoo! OMG reports ABC officially announced Monday. It's been a somewhat arduous victory lap: the one-time hit has twice hit series-low 1.8 adult demographic ratings this season, running respectively against the 2012 Grammy Awards the night following Whitney Houston's Feb. 11 death and on a separate occasion running against the mid-season premiere of AMC's "The Walking Dead."
Before that, another show that's ridden a rollercoaster this season wraps up two nights prior. "Cougar Town" concludes its third season with a one-hour finale on May 13. The Bill Lawrence-created, Courtney Cox-starring comedy took a surprise hiatus late this past fall, returned in February, but hasn't yet seen its ratings rebound.
And of course, "Dancing with the Stars" will wrap up its 14th season with a two-night finale event featuring final performances May 21 and a winner being crowned May 22.
