VIDEO: What About Lauren Alaina Does Piers Morgan Find 'So Embarrassing'?

Both Lauren Alaina, who was the runner-up on "American Idol" to Scotty McCreery, and Piers Morgan, who judges on "America's Got Talent," sat down with Jay Leno the other night on "The Tonight Show." It was then that Lauren revealed a truth that Piers found incredibly embarrassing.

What was the big scandal? Lauren revealed that she tried out for "America's Got Talent" in the past and didn't even get on the show. She applied twice, but never got in front of the judges.

"Are you serious?" asked Morgan. "This is a scandal!"

That either says something about the lack of judgement of the people in charge at "America's Got Talent," or it says something about the lack of talent on "American Idol." Take your pick.

There's no denying that Lauren can sing, and sing very well, but she's not much of a performer...so, since "America's Got Talent" tends to have big, crazy, flashy acts, it's probably a little tougher to get anywhere as a singer. Being that talented that young probably helps (as in the case of Jackie Evancho), but I guess 16 just isn't impressive enough.

"So, for all the people who try out for 'America's Got Talent' and don't make it...try 'Idol!'" Alaina said.

"That is so embarrassing," sighed Morgan.
